Baramulla Police in Jammu and Kashmir have issued a strong advisory urging displaced residents not to return to their homes until an official clearance is given by the J-K Police.
In a notice released on Sunday, the police stated that unexploded shells are scattered across both public and private areas due to recent shelling, posing a serious and potentially fatal risk to civilians.
Specialised teams from the J-K Police Bomb Disposal Squad are conducting thorough sweeps to locate and safely neutralise these explosives, which can remain volatile and detonate with even slight disturbance.
The police assured that temporary shelters with essential supplies and medical aid have been set up across the district. Residents are advised to stay at these shelters until further instructions and to call the 24/7 emergency helpline (112) if needed.
The statement further warned that entering restricted areas without permission is strictly prohibited and may lead to legal consequences, as security checkpoints have been deployed to prevent accidental access to danger zones.
Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force announced via its official ‘X’ handle that it has successfully completed its assigned tasks under Operation Sindoor with precision and professionalism. While operations are still ongoing, a detailed briefing will be given later. The IAF also urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information or speculation.
