Srinagar, May 29: In celebration of World Environment Day 2025, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Ganderbal organized an energetic Cyclothon in Zone Ganderbal on Thursday, aimed at raising awareness on environmental protection with an emphasis on the global theme, Ending Plastic Pollution Globally. The event witnessed active participation from 54 individuals, including boys, girls, and staff members.
The Cyclothon began at the Clock Tower in Ganderbal, continued along Fatehpora Road, and concluded at the Government College of Physical Education in Gadoora, covering a notable distance. The core aim was to educate the public about the harmful impact of plastic pollution on ecosystems and biodiversity. Participants promoted sustainable practices and responsible consumption throughout the rally. To honor their efforts, all cyclists were awarded medals and mementoes at the end of the event.
In a separate initiative, Zone Kangan of YSS Ganderbal hosted an Inter-School Zonal Level Badminton Tournament for girls at BHSS Manigam. A total of 88 female students from various schools in the zone took part, showcasing their talent and competitive spirit. The event aimed to nurture sportsmanship and encourage young athletes at the grassroots level.
