India’s active Covid-19 case count has reached 2,710, with 1,170 recoveries reported, according to the Union Health Ministry.

Seven Covid-related deaths were recorded across multiple states, most involving patients with existing health conditions. In Delhi, a 60-year-old woman with intestinal obstruction died post-surgery, with Covid-19 found incidentally. Gujarat also reported one death, with details pending.

Karnataka reported the death of a 70-year-old man suffering from cardiorespiratory arrest, brain complications, anaemia, and multiple comorbidities. His Covid status is awaiting RT-PCR confirmation.

Maharashtra registered two deaths: a 67-year-old man with acute respiratory distress syndrome, pneumonia, and comorbidities, and a 21-year-old with diabetic ketoacidosis and a respiratory infection. One previously reported death was reconciled.

Punjab reported the death of a 39-year-old man with Hepatitis B and respiratory distress. In Tamil Nadu, a 60-year-old man with diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease also passed away.

Kerala currently has the highest number of active cases at 1,147, while Bihar’s latest Covid data is still pending. Mortality data is under reconciliation in several states.

Union Minister of State for Health and AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, reassured that the central government is prepared to tackle any possible surge. He stated that the ministries are monitoring the situation closely and coordinating with state health departments.

Jadhav also confirmed that infrastructure from previous wavesโ€”such as oxygen plants and ICU bedsโ€”has been reviewed, and that preparations are ongoing to ensure the health system is ready to respond effectively.
