As part of ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar and Awantipora and seized contraband substances from their possession.

According to a police spokesperson, a team from Nowhatta Police Station apprehended Suhail Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh Rasool Sheikh from Qutbuddin Pora Aalikadal, at a checkpoint near Syed Sahab Rajouri Kadal. A significant quantity of psychotropic drugs, including SpasmoProxyvon and Tapentadol, was recovered from him.

In a separate operation in Awantipora, police arrested Adil Ahmad Bhat, son of Farooq Ahmad Bhat of Latribal Pampore, during a naka checking. Officers recovered 5 grams of a brown sugar-like substance during the search.

Relevant cases have been registered at the respective police stations, and investigations are underway.

The J&K Police reaffirmed their commitment to a zero-tolerance approach against drug trafficking and urged the public to share any information on drug-related activities to help create a drug-free society.
