Aishmuqam, April 12 : Thousands of devotees thronged the revered shrine of Hazrat Zain-ud-Din Wali (RA) in Aishmuqam to observe the annual Mashaal Festival, also known locally as โZoolโ.
Celebrated on the 13th day of Baisakh, the centuries-old tradition commemorates the Urs (death anniversary) of the 15th-century Sufi saint. The highlight of the event is a torchlight procession, where worshippers carry flaming torches up the hill to the shrine, offering prayers and seeking blessings.
As darkness set in, the lit torches illuminated the area, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere, as people reflected on the saintโs message of peace, unity, and brotherhood.
The festival also marks the beginning of Kashmirโs agricultural season, making it both a spiritual and cultural celebration.
People from diverse religious backgrounds participated, highlighting Kashmirโs long-standing tradition of communal harmony.
Authorities had ensured adequate security and traffic arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event.
This annual celebration remains one of the most significant gatherings in South Kashmir, drawing large crowds to honor the saint and embrace his message of togetherness and peace.
