In a major development in its ongoing crackdown against terrorism and individuals linked to proscribed outfits, Srinagar Police has ramped up action under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Over 150 suspected terrorist associates have been searched so far, with the latest round of raids targeting eight individuals across the city.

A police spokesperson stated that these operations are part of a sustained campaign to dismantle the terrorist support network in Srinagar. The recent searches were conducted at the residences of Adil Manzoor Langoo (Zaldagar), Basit Bilal Makaya (Doomkadal), Waseem Tariq Matta (Rampora), Fayaz Ahmad Lone (Kaw Mohalla), Mohd Ashraf Kaloo (Aabi Gurpora), Qazi Usman (Devi Angan Hawal), Muzaffar Ahmad Magray (Qalamdanpora), and Shahbaz Farooq Bhat (Palpora Noorbagh).

These individuals are involved in various cases registered under the Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act, and multiple sections of the UAPA, ranging from 2006 to 2024.

The searches were conducted legally in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses, under the supervision of senior J&K Police officers. Authorities aimed to seize weapons, digital evidence, and documents, aiding both ongoing investigations and preventive intelligence gathering.

Police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and security in Srinagar, warning that anyone found aiding terror-related activities or promoting unrest will face strict legal consequences.
