Udhampur, May 26: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday praised India’s scientific and defence advancements, calling Operation Sindoor a testament to the country’s technological strength and self-reliance.
โOperation Sindoor reflects the brilliance of our scientists and the bravery of our defence personnel. Itโs a tribute to their dedication and our commitment to self-reliance,โ LG Sinha said, adding that Indiaโs recent defence successes stem from a decade-long vision under Prime Minister Narendra Modiโs leadership.
Speaking at the flag-off of the Physics Bharat Yatra in Udhampurโa national science outreach campaign led by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and National Anveshika Network of India (NANI)โthe LG highlighted Indiaโs growing capabilities in indigenous defence and technology.
He emphasized that Indian scientists understand the importance of self-dependence in defence, and their innovations are a sign of a resurgent India. He said this scientific growth not only bolsters national security but also drives economic development.
Commending the Physics Bharat Yatra, led by renowned physicist Padma Shri Dr. HC Verma, Sinha described it as a revolutionary effort to promote curiosity and hands-on science education across the nation.
โThis Yatra will unite the countryโs districts in a common mission to make science enjoyable and engaging. It will foster strong connections between students, teachers, and educational institutions,โ he said.
He also stressed the need to embed science within Indiaโs cultural and educational fabric, pointing out how scientific progress can uplift the quality of life for society at large.
Calling for greater capacity-building among science educators, Sinha urged institutions to provide students with larger platforms for innovation and scientific exploration.
The LG appealed to Indian scientists working abroad to return and contribute to Indiaโs scientific growth, saying, โIndia offers fertile ground today for pioneering research. Their return can help propel India to global leadership in science.โ
He concluded by underlining the synergy between science, spirituality, and cultural values in Indiaโs progress, and expressed hope that Indian researchers will help fulfill the vision of a developed India by 2047.
During the event, Dr. HC Verma shared insights into the Yatraโs vision, encouraging experiential learning. The LG also viewed a student-led Physics Exhibition featuring creative experiments and models.
The event was attended by MLAs, senior officials, educators, and citizens from across the district.
