Jammu, Apr 08: The ruling National Conference (NC) on Tuesday made it clear that it will not support the no-confidence motion filed by opposition parties from Kashmir against Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.
Speaking to reporters after the Assembly was adjourned, NC MLA Salman Sagar told that the party would not back the motion. When asked directly, he replied, โNo, not at all.โ
The motion was brought by PDP and Peopleโs Conference MLAs in protest against the Speakerโs refusal to allow debate on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025.
In their resolution, the opposition accused the Speaker of disregarding democratic procedures, citing his rejection of an adjournment motion and refusal to consider a resolution submitted by opposition members. They stated that such conduct weakens the democratic foundation of the legislature, necessitating formal action.
