Srinagar, May 31 โ€“ The University of Kashmir has successfully concluded a three-day assessment visit by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Peer Team, sparking optimism that the university may advance from its current A+ grade to the prestigious A++ accreditation.

According to university sources, the peer team, led by Professor Chinta Sudhakar, included seven membersโ€”two of whom visited the campus physically while five participated virtually. The visit began on May 29 and involved an in-depth evaluation based on NAACโ€™s seven core criteria: curriculum, teaching and evaluation, research and innovation, infrastructure, student support, governance, and institutional values.

During their stay, the team inspected various departments, interacted with faculty, students, and staff, and examined records and performance metrics. Presentations highlighted the universityโ€™s accomplishments, adherence to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and efforts toward global academic excellence.

Insiders revealed that Professor Sudhakar praised the universityโ€™s performance, reportedly stating there were โ€œno shortcomingsโ€ during internal discussions. He particularly acknowledged KUโ€™s academic strength, focus on interdisciplinary research, and commitment to inclusive education in a sensitive region.

The visit concluded with a formal session at the Convocation Complex, where Vice Chancellor Professor Nilofer Khan, Registrar Dr. Naseer Iqbal, and other officials expressed gratitude for the positive feedback and reaffirmed their dedication to academic quality.

A senior academic at KU told Rising Kashmir, โ€œThe peer teamโ€™s appreciation is a validation of our hard work. We are hopeful of achieving the A++ grade.โ€

The University of Kashmir continues to strive toward enhancing its academic and research profile, and this successful peer review could mark a major milestone in its journey to becoming one of Indiaโ€™s leading higher education institutions.
