Srinagar, May 21: To ensure the safe conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025 and the upcoming Muharram events, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, on Wednesday directed the installation of CCTV cameras at all critical locations and ordered enhanced deployment of security forces at camps and sensitive areas across the Valley.
Presiding over a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room in Srinagar, IGP Birdi stressed the need for strong surveillance, ground-level coordination, and intelligence-based operations to counter potential threats. Senior police officials, including DIGs of Central, North, and South Kashmir and other top officers, were present at the meeting.
“Our focus must be on timely threat evaluation and proactive, intelligence-led operations to ensure the safety of all pilgrims and participants,” said IGP Birdi.
He instructed that the installation of CCTV cameras at all strategic and vulnerable points be expedited and adequate security personnel be stationed at every Yatra camp and key location.
During the meeting, officials gave a detailed overview of the security arrangements planned for the Yatra, Muharram, and other upcoming events. Based on past experiences, they emphasized the importance of real-time monitoring, reliable communication systems, and smooth coordination among different agencies for rapid response to any untoward incidents.
