Ganderbal, May 30 – Ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, convened a meeting on Friday to assess and finalize the necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth and hassle-free festival across the district.
Held in the VC Room of the Mini Secretariat, the meeting included detailed discussions on essential services including security, transportation, sanitation, power and water supply, health care, and the availability of key commodities during the festival period.
The Transport Department was instructed to ensure adequate public transport is available on all routes during the festive days. The Executive Officer of the Municipal Council was tasked with maintaining cleanliness in and around mosques and Eidgahs, in consultation with local committees.
To meet the demand for sacrificial animals, the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer was directed to ensure the availability of poultry at government-notified prices, while the District Sheep Husbandry Officer was told to provide adequate sheep at designated locations, facilitating the sale of livestock by local breeders.
The Health Department was asked to station ambulances and ensure the presence of medical and paramedical staff at major religious sites where congregational prayers will be held.
Additionally, DC Kishore instructed all concerned departments to ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential services, including electricity, water, and food items. He emphasized that joint market inspection teams led by local Tehsildars, comprising officials from Revenue, Municipal Council, FCS&CA, Food Safety, Police, and Legal Metrology, must ensure the availability and quality of essential goods like meat, vegetables, bakery items, and confectioneries.
The DC called on all departments to work in synergy to ensure a peaceful and joyful Eid-ul-Adha for residents of the district.
