After several nights of intense cross-border tensions, the Indian Army reported that the night between May 11 and May 12 was largely peaceful along the northern and western International Borders (IB), including Jammu and Kashmir. No ceasefire violations were recorded, making it the first calm night following a series of Pakistani drone attacks and artillery shelling in retaliation to Indiaโ€™s Operation Sindoor.

Operation Sindoor was launched by India in response to the April 22 terror attack, targeting major terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Over the past days, border regions in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat had faced sleepless nights due to Pakistani aggression.

At a joint press briefing, top defence officialsโ€”Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, Vice Admiral A N Pramod, and Air Marshal A K Bhartiโ€”outlined the results of Operation Sindoor. They confirmed that Indian forces destroyed 11 Pakistani air bases and eliminated over 100 terrorists in targeted strikes. These strikes focused on military assets, avoiding civilian harm.

Air Marshal Bharti noted that Pakistan attempted a large-scale drone attack on Indian cities on the night of May 8โ€“9, but Indiaโ€™s air defence forces successfully intercepted them. He stressed that the Indian Air Force (IAF) struck military installations deliberately and proportionately, naming targeted sites like Chaklala, Rafiq, Rahim Yar Khan, Sargodha, Bhulari, and Jacobabad.

Regarding casualties, Bharti said Indiaโ€™s goal was not to cause deaths but to hit strategic targets. Lieutenant General Ghai added that among the terrorists killed were key operatives from past high-profile terror incidents, including the IC-814 hijacking and the 2019 Pulwama attack.
