Jammu, Apr 17: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief spokesperson in Jammu and Kashmir, Sunil Sethi, on Thursday accused the National Conference (NC) of engaging in double-speak to mislead the public. Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Sethi said the NC shifts its stance depending on time and place, calling it a sign of political duplicity.
Sethi referred to former RAW Chief A.S. Dulatโs upcoming book, which reportedly mentions that former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah was not opposed to the abrogation of Article 370. โThis has stirred political circles in J&K and exposed NCโs real stand,โ Sethi claimed.
He added that while regional parties publicly support Article 370, many secretly agree with its removal, seeing it as a barrier to progress and lasting peace in the region. โMost people and political entities either openly or silently endorse the abrogation,โ he said.
Accompanied by BJP spokesperson Arun Gupta and media in-charge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, Sethi alleged that the NC is now attempting damage control by dismissing Dulatโs claims.
Arun Gupta further said the NC has treated J&K as its familyโs domain and has often been exposed for its contradictory positions. He claimed the revelations by Dulat only validate the BJP’s long-standing stance on the NC’s duplicity.
