Western Disturbance to Bring Snowfall Across Kashmir and Jammu

Srinagar, December 30, 2024: The Meteorological Department (MeT) has issued a weather advisory predicting light to moderate snowfall in various parts of Kashmir and some areas of Jammu. Higher elevations in the region are expected to experience moderate to heavy snowfall.

The In-charge Director of the MeT Department stated that a Western Disturbance is currently active over the region and is likely to intensify in the coming days. The impact of this system will bring a significant drop in temperatures, accompanied by snowfall, which is expected to begin later tonight and continue through the next 48 hours.

Residents in higher altitudes and snow-prone areas are advised to take necessary precautions, as moderate to heavy snowfall may lead to disruptions in road connectivity and essential services. Tourists and travelers are also urged to stay updated on weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel during the peak period of snowfall.
