Member of National Commission for Minorities Emphasizes Inclusivity and Development During Srinagar Press Briefing

Srinagar, Jan 23: Mrs. Rouble Nagi, Member of the National Commission for Minorities, addressed a press briefing at the Srinagar Press Club following her five-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, during which she met with leaders and representatives of minority communities across the region.

In her statement, Mrs. Nagi highlighted the commission’s commitment to addressing the concerns and challenges faced by minorities in the Union Territory. She assured that their grievances, including those related to education, employment, and social welfare, will be taken up at the highest level to ensure equal opportunities and inclusivity.

“This visit has been about listening and understanding the diverse perspectives of the region’s minority communities. Dialogue is the first step toward fostering unity and development,” Mrs. Nagi said.

She emphasized the importance of bridging gaps through education, vocational training, and community-building initiatives, reiterating the commission’s dedication to promoting harmony and equal rights for all.

During her visit, Mrs. Nagi engaged with leaders from various religious and ethnic minorities, including the Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, and Pahari communities, as well as displaced Kashmiri Pandits. She also visited schools, community centers, and other institutions to assess the ground realities and gather feedback on ongoing government initiatives.

Mrs. Nagi concluded her address by reaffirming her commitment to ensuring that the voices of minority communities are heard and that their concerns are addressed effectively. She expressed gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their warmth and hospitality during her visit.
