Lal Chowk Traders Association and JK Contractors Association Address Pressing Issues in Srinagar Press Conference
Srinagar, January 23, 2025 – Members of the Lal Chowk Traders Association and Farooq Ahmed Dar, President of the JK Contractors Association, held a joint press conference today at the Press Club in Srinagar to address critical concerns affecting local businesses and contractors in Jammu and Kashmir.
Farooq Ahmed Dar highlighted the challenges faced by contractors due to delayed payments for completed government projects. He criticized the administration for its lack of accountability, which has caused financial hardships for contractors and hindered ongoing development in the region.
The Lal Chowk Traders Association raised concerns about the deteriorating business environment in Srinagar, citing a lack of government support and inadequate policies to revitalize the market. They emphasized the need for immediate action to safeguard the interests of traders, particularly in the face of increasing operational costs and reduced footfall in the commercial hub.
Dar called for unity among business and contractor associations to collectively press the government for timely payment of dues, implementation of transparent policies, and proactive measures to support economic recovery in the region.
The associations urged the administration to engage in meaningful dialogue with stakeholders to address their grievances and work towards sustainable solutions for economic stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
