New Delhi, May 8: In a bold retaliatory move, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor, successfully destroying nine terrorist camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The strikes, conducted in the early hours of Wednesday, targeted infrastructure linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen, official sources confirmed.

According to sources, over 100 terrorists were eliminated in precision strikes aimed at avenging the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. โ€œThe operation is ongoing, making it difficult to ascertain the exact number of casualties at this stage,โ€ a senior official said.

Four of the terror facilities were located inside Pakistan, while five were situated across PoK. Among the key targets in Pakistan were Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, JeMโ€™s main operational and training headquarters, known to house leaders such as Masood Azhar and Mufti Abdul Rauf Asghar. The facility has been linked to past terror plots, including the 2019 Pulwama attack.

In Muridke, the Indian forces struck Markaz Taiba, LeTโ€™s premier training center responsible for radicalizing and preparing militants, including those involved in the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Intelligence sources noted that the perpetrators of 26/11, such as Ajmal Kasab, had undergone training at this complex, while conspirators like David Headley had also visited the site.

Other targets included Sarjal, a key infiltration hub for JeM, and Mehmoona Joya in Sialkot, where Pakistanโ€™s ISI was reportedly establishing terror operations within government buildings.

The five PoK-based terror camps targeted were identified as Markaz Ahle Hadith Barnala (Bhimber), Markaz Abbas and Maskar Raheel Shahid (Kotli), Shawai Nallah Camp, and Markaz Syedna Bilal (Muzaffarabad).

The strikes were described by officials as a โ€œsignificant blowโ€ to terror infrastructure across the border, sending a strong message in response to recent attacks.
