Deputy Chief Minister Reviews Winter Preparedness in Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu and Kashmir, December 2024 – The Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir chaired a high-level meeting to assess winter preparedness across the region. The review focused on ensuring efficient snow clearance operations and maintaining critical services during the harsh winter season.
During the meeting, officials highlighted the deployment of snow clearance machinery across key roads, highways, and urban areas to ensure uninterrupted connectivity. Proactive measures, including the pre-stocking of essential items such as fuel, food supplies, and medical resources, have been prioritized. Special provisions have been made for remote and snowbound areas, where helicopter services will be deployed for emergency and medical needs.
Control rooms have been set up at district and departmental levels to facilitate quick responses to public complaints and emergencies. Health facilities have been equipped with necessary medical supplies and staff schedules, while steps are being taken to address power supply challenges by maintaining a buffer stock of transformers and repair equipment.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to collaborate closely to overcome challenges posed by the winter months and ensure the smooth execution of plans.
