Srinagar, Apr 09: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly turned chaotic on Wednesday as BJP legislators protested the rejection of their adjournment motion on unemployment, while National Conference (NC) MLAs demanded a debate on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill-2025.

The disruption began shortly after proceedings started, with NC members urging the Speaker to allow discussion on the Waqf legislation. Tensions escalated when the Speaker ruled that BJP’s motion on unemployment did not warrant urgent attention, triggering loud protests from BJP lawmakers.

BJP MLAs accused the NC of creating drama, chanting slogans such as “Yeh Dramabazi Bandh Karo.” In response, NC MLA Nazir Gurezi called for a discussion on the Waqf Bill, alleging discrimination against Muslims and criticizing the government’s employment record.

As both sides exchanged heated words, BJP members stormed the well of the House and began a sit-in protest, leading the Speaker to adjourn the session until 1:00 AM.
