Srinagar, May 18 โ€“ In a major safety measure, security forces on Sunday successfully neutralised 42 unexploded shells in several forward villages near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district. The shells were remnants of recent cross-border shelling following tensions between India and Pakistan.

According to Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, PRO and spokesperson, the Indian Army, in close coordination with local police, conducted a carefully planned operation in the villages of Jhullas, Salotri, Dharati, and Salani.

โ€œThese unexploded shells posed a grave danger to civilians. The disposal was carried out following strict safety protocols to ensure there was no risk to life or property,โ€ he said.

Bomb Disposal Teams from the Army, supported by police personnel, executed the operation with precision, ensuring all explosives were safely destroyed.

Lt Col Suneel emphasized that the mission showcases the Armyโ€™s unwavering dedication to protecting civilians in conflict-prone areas and helping restore normalcy in border communities.
