In a coordinated operation, the Indian Armyโ€™s 34 Rashtriya Rifles, the Special Operations Group (SOG) Shopian, and the CRPFโ€™s 178 Battalion arrested two terrorist associates in the DK Pora area of Shopian district, Jammu and Kashmir.

Security personnel recovered two pistols, four grenades, 43 live rounds, and other incriminating materials from the suspects. An FIR has been registered by the Shopian Police, who are currently investigating the suspectsโ€™ connections and activities.

This operation marks a crucial step in the ongoing crackdown on unlawful and subversive elements in the region, underscoring the commitment of Shopian Police and security forces to maintaining peace and security.

Earlier, on May 13, three terrorists linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed in a gunfight in the Shukroo forest area of Keller, South Kashmirโ€™s Shopian district. Acting on specific intelligence, security forces launched a search operation, which led to a firefight when the terrorists opened fire. All three were neutralised, though their identities are still being verified.

In a separate operation in April, following the Pahalgam terror attack, Srinagar Police carried out widespread searches at several locations targeting Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and terrorist associates linked to banned outfits. These searches were part of ongoing investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

These operations follow Indiaโ€™s recent success in Operation Sindoor, a precision strike campaign that resulted in the elimination of nearly 100 terror operatives in Pakistan. Targets included key militant strongholds such as the Jaish-e-Mohammed headquarters in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taibaโ€™s training base in Muridke.
