Sopore, Apr 17: The Physical Education Department of Zone Sopore, in partnership with Boys Higher Secondary School Sopore, paid heartfelt tributes to renowned footballer Mohammad Subhan Janwari on his death anniversary Thursday.

A memorial event was held at Subhan Stadium in Sopore to honour Janwari’s lifelong commitment to football and youth empowerment in Jammu and Kashmir. The gathering was attended by the Principal of BHSS Sopore, staff, and local sports lovers who came together to celebrate his legacy.

Recognized as one of north Kashmir’s greatest sports figures, Janwari was instrumental in promoting football and mentoring young talent throughout the region. Locals reflected on how his impact reached well beyond Sopore, helping shape the football culture in J&K for generations.

“His playing style and coaching influenced many. His legacy is alive in every player he guided, and Subhan Stadium is a lasting tribute to his devotion,” said veteran footballer Fayaz Ahmad Halwai.
