Srinagar, May 17: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir on Friday carried out raids at 11 different locations across Central and North Kashmir as part of an ongoing probe into suspected sleeper cell networks. These searches follow similar actions earlier this week in South Kashmir, officials said.
According to a police spokesperson, the raids are linked to case FIR No. 01/2025 registered under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Police Station CI/SIA Kashmir. The operations were conducted with proper authorization from a competent court and in the presence of Executive Magistrates.
โSignificant incriminating evidence has been recovered and several suspects have been detained for questioning,โ the spokesperson stated.
Initial findings suggest that those targeted are involved in terrorist conspiracies, spreading anti-India propaganda, and inciting public unrest and communal discord. The agency confirmed its firm commitment to protecting national security and public order and vowed to continue cracking down on individuals or groups engaging in secessionist or terrorist activities.
The SIA also expressed concern over the growing online radicalization of youth, noting that most individuals under investigation fall within the 18-22 age group. It urged teachers, parents, and peers to stay vigilant about the online activities of young people and provide guidance where needed. In case of troubling behavior, the public is encouraged to report it to local authorities to ensure proper intervention and counselling.
