Srinagar, June 5 – To maintain cleanliness during Eid-ul-Adha, the Directorate of Rural Sanitation and Urban Local Bodies Kashmir has urged the public to avoid dumping animal hides and offal in drains, water bodies, or public spaces.

Residents performing Qurbani are advised to use designated disposal points or contact their local Panchayat Secretary for safe waste management.

Special hoppers will be deployed in rural areas to collect animal hides, and citizens are encouraged to donate hides to their local mosque committees. Maintaining hygiene by avoiding public dumping is a shared responsibility, officials emphasized.

Specific collection locations have already been identified in rural areas, with Panchayat Secretaries assigned to supervise disposal operations in their respective villages.

In urban areas, Executive Officers of municipal committees have been instructed to oversee hide collection within each ward. Designated collection points have been established, and all gathered hides will be transported to a central location for sale to interested buyers.

Contact details of the designated hide collection drivers will be made publicly available to help residents arrange pickups during the festival.

Authorities stressed the importance of public cooperation to prevent health hazards and uphold environmental hygiene during Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.
