Pakistanโ€™s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday dismissed a viral tweet from the Economic Affairs Divisionโ€™s official account as fake, claiming the account was hacked.

The tweet, posted from the handle @eadgop, appeared to appeal to international partners for support amid rising tensions with India, using hashtags like #IndiaPakistanWar and #PakistanZindabad.

However, the Ministryโ€™s official fact-checking unit issued a clarification, stating: โ€œFAKE TWEET ALERT: The account was hacked!!โ€ alongside a screenshot of the tweet marked โ€œFAKEโ€ in bold red letters.

The tweet remains visible on the account at the time of reporting, but officials have denied its authenticity, urging the public not to believe or circulate it.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the account breach and are working to enhance security measures.

Further updates are awaited.
