Srinagar, May 21: The Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) held a solemn remembrance ceremony at its Church Lane headquarters to mark the 23rd death anniversary of Shaheed Abdul Gani Lone. Party leaders and workers gathered to pay tribute to the veteran leader, known for his commitment to peace, dialogue, and dignity in the region.

 

JKPC President Sajad Gani Lone, Loneโ€™s son, led the commemoration, recalling his fatherโ€™s unwavering stand for peace. โ€œHe was martyred 23 years ago while striving for harmony. His sacrifice during those darker times is a lasting source of inspiration,โ€ he said, praying for his fatherโ€™s eternal peace.

 

Senior party figures reflected on Loneโ€™s visionary leadership. Abdul Gani Vakil described him as a profound thinker whose peace efforts were challenged by forces of unrest. Molvi Imran Reza Ansari highlighted Loneโ€™s strength in seeking unity over division, calling dialogue his greatest tool.

 

Leaders including Abid Ansari, Abbas Wani, and Advocate Bashir Ahmed Dar spoke about the irreplaceable void his death created, but also the lasting relevance of his message. DDC Chairman Irfan Pandith pointed to the heavy price of peace in Kashmir, while Nazir Lavay and Irfan Mattoo praised Loneโ€™s diplomatic skills and steadfast dedication to dialogue.

 

Speakers such as Mudasir Karim, Muneeb Quraishi, and Bashir Chakloo reaffirmed that Loneโ€™s ideals continue to resonate today. Asif Lone reminded attendees that while his voice was silenced, his vision lives on.

 

The ceremony concluded with prayers for Abdul Gani Loneโ€™s soul, with leaders underscoring that his legacy of non-violence and dialogue remains a guiding light for Kashmirโ€™s future.
