Jammu, May 12 – Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha declared that Operation Sindoor, a precise military strike carried out by the Indian Armed Forces, was a direct response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. He asserted that India remains firm on protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity and will respond decisively to any threats.

During a visit to the Sahib Bandgi Ashram shelter in Mishriwala, where families displaced by cross-border shelling are currently housed, LG Sinha paid tribute to BSF Constable Deepak Chingakham and civilian Zakir Hussain, both of whom lost their lives in the recent Pakistani aggression. He assured the displaced residents of full support and rehabilitation from the government and emphasized the nation’s solidarity with them.

Condemning Pakistan’s involvement in the Pahalgam incident, Sinha said, “India desires peace but will not remain silent in the face of provocation. What happened in Pahalgam was an act of war. With Operation Sindoor, our Armed Forces have delivered a firm message.”

He lauded the professionalism of the Armed Forces, describing the May 6–7 operation as a display of both precision and restraint. “The response was so impactful that it will be remembered for generations in Pakistan,” he added.

The LG reiterated India’s commitment to eliminating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and announced plans to build new bunkers in vulnerable areas to protect civilians from future cross-border threats.

Later, he visited the home of Zakir Hussain in Kheri village to offer condolences and promised administrative support. He also honored the sacrifice of BSF Constable Deepak Chingakham, who died following unprovoked Pakistani firing in the R.S. Pura sector. In a message on social media platform X, the LG wrote, “I salute the brave son of India, BSF Constable Deepak Chingakham, who gave his life in the line of duty. The nation stands with his family in this moment of grief.”

He also thanked various individuals and organizations offering aid to the affected families and reaffirmed the administration’s long-term commitment to their safety and care.
