Srinagar, Apr 24 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday called on security agencies to carry out their duties diligently following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, while commending the swift and compassionate response of local residents during the tragedy.
Addressing reporters in Srinagar, Abdullah emphasized the importance of vigilance and accountability, stating, “To prevent such tragedies, those responsible for maintaining security must carry out their responsibilities effectively. We will extend our support wherever needed.”
Highlighting the role of civilians during the crisis, he said, “In every such incident, it’s always the local people who come forward first to assist.”
He also noted that the Central Government has initiated certain measures post-attack and expressed cautious optimism, saying, “We’ll see how those measures play out.” Abdullah added that he has been in touch with multiple political leaders, all of whom have agreed to join a meeting to discuss the evolving situation.
