Srinagar, Apr 14: A non-local labourer tragically drowned in the Jhelum River at Patalbagh in Pampore, Pulwama district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Nami Sahani, son of Sarjo Sahani from Bihar, who was working as a sand labourer in the area.

Following the incident, a police team led by the SHO Pampore reached the site and launched a rescue operation. The body was later recovered and taken to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pampore for necessary medico-legal procedures.

Police have registered the case and initiated further investigation.
