Mendhar, May 13: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, during his visit to shelling-affected areas in Mendhar, emphasized the devastating impact of war and expressed that the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan has brought much-needed relief, especially to residents of border districts often caught in crossfire.
During his tour, the Minister visited the family of Late Balwinder Kour, who lost her life in recent hostilities, and extended his condolences. Accompanied by Sub-Divisional Administration officials, he assessed the damage to property and livestock, offering solidarity and assurance of full support from the Omar Abdullah-led government.
He praised the district administration for its proactive role in relocating affected residents to safer locations and urged officials to fast-track relief processing and compensation for the victims.
Rana reiterated the government’s commitment to stand by its people during such difficult times. At Mankote, he personally met bereaved families and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies, acknowledging that no words could truly ease their grief.
