SRINAGAR, APRIL 21: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Cooperative, and Election Department, Javid Ahmad Dar, has voiced serious concern over the damage caused to orchards and farmland following the recent heavy rains and hailstorms in Jammu & Kashmir.
The severe weather has significantly affected standing crops and horticulture, especially in North and South Kashmir.
In response, the Minister has instructed the Agriculture and Horticulture Department heads to begin immediate loss assessment across all districts. He directed them to send joint field teams, in coordination with District Administrations, to evaluate the damages and submit reports for timely relief.
Stressing the need for accurate and swift reporting, the Minister urged officials to be thorough in gathering data.
He reassured the farming community that the Omar Abdullah-led government is committed to supporting them during this difficult period, and the UT administration is actively working on suitable relief measures.
