At least 40 sheep and goats belonging to a nomadic herder were killed by a lightning strike late last night in the forest area of Hariganiwan, located in the Kangan region of Ganderbal district.

 

The livestock was owned by Abdul Wahid Khattana from Sunderbani, Rajouri, who is currently residing in Chechi Pati, Hariganiwan, as part of his seasonal migration.

 

The lightning struck during a brief but intense thunderstorm, instantly killing the animals that were caught in the open.
