𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐤𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞

As India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire following Operation Sindoor, daily life in Jammu’s Akhnoor region is gradually returning to normal. Locals have resumed their routines, with businesses reopening and people going back to work.

Bhupendra Singh, a resident of Akhnoor, confirmed the improving situation, saying, “Things have normalized after the ceasefire. Shops are open, and people are resuming their daily work.”

In a humanitarian gesture, the Indian Army organized a free medical camp in Narayana village, close to the border in Akhnoor. The initiative aimed to provide essential healthcare services to the border population. Numerous residents, including children, women, and the elderly, availed themselves of medical check-ups and received free medicines.

Additional support included the setup of camps providing food and education for villagers displaced by cross-border shelling. Local resident Praveen Sharma highlighted the recurring disruptions, saying, “Every five to seven years, we are forced to flee our homes. We request the government to find a lasting solution.”

He noted that although safer land plots have been given to some residents, many are still waiting. Shelling now affects areas beyond the previous 5-km range, sometimes reaching over 15 km. Sharma called for more bunkers to protect civilians and praised the administration and SDM for swift evacuations and the transport minister for providing relocation vehicles.

In a separate development, an encounter broke out on Thursday morning between security forces and terrorists in the Nader area of Tral, Awantipora. Kashmir Police announced the operation on their official ‘X’ handle, stating, “Encounter has started at Nader, Tral area of Awantipora. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
