Srinagar: A major landslide caused by continuous rainfall has heavily disrupted the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district, halting all vehicular movement, officials said on Sunday.
The landslide buried the road under layers of rocks, mud, and debris, stranding hundreds of private and commercial vehicles.
Images from the scene show a grim situation, with vehicles submerged in muck, damaged roofs, and debris scattered across the highway. Officials said the landslide pushed several roadside-parked vehicles into a deep gorge, but fortunately, there were no casualties.
Authorities have launched clearance operations to restore traffic flow.
Travelers have been urged to avoid non-essential travel and stay informed through official updates.
