Srinagar, May 07: Syed Nawshad Hussain Shah, brother of Syed Adil Hussain Shah—one of the victims of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack—on Wednesday welcomed India’s military strikes across the Line of Control, describing the action as “justice delivered.”

The strikes, conducted under Operation Sindoor on the night of May 6–7, targeted terrorist camps and infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir linked to the deadly attack that killed 26 civilians, defense officials confirmed.

“We are thankful for this response. The innocent lives lost have been avenged. We appreciate the efforts of our army and Prime Minister Modi for ensuring justice,” Nawshad told reporters in Anantnag.

He expressed faith in the government and armed forces: “From the beginning, they assured us justice would be served, and today they’ve fulfilled that promise.”

Shah said the operation brought a sense of closure to the victims’ families and the region. “The massacre of 26 innocent people has not gone unanswered. This action has brought relief not only to us but to the entire region shaken by the brutality of that attack,” he added.

The April 22 attack, one of the deadliest in Jammu and Kashmir in recent years, claimed the lives of tourists and local residents, sparking protests and calls for strong retaliation across the region.

Remembering his brother, Nawshad described Adil as “kind-hearted, always smiling, full of dreams.” Holding back tears, he said, “We lost him to hatred, but his sacrifice awakened a nation’s conscience. If his death contributed to a safer country, it was not in vain.”

While the family continues to mourn, Nawshad said they feel some solace knowing action was taken. “The pain lingers, but so does our hope that such horrors will never happen again,” he concluded.
