Bijbehara, Apr 22: PDP leader Iltija Mufti on Tuesday voiced serious concern over the extensive damage caused to orchards in parts of Kashmir, particularly Poshkiri, due to recent hailstorms. She urged the government to immediately send teams for assessment and ensure timely compensation to affected farmers.
During her visit to the damaged areas, she emphasized the vital role horticulture plays in J&K’s economy and criticized the administration for its inaction.
Iltija also expressed solidarity with residents of Ramban and Banihal impacted by flash floods, warning of worsening climate impacts and the consequences of unchecked illegal mining. Marking Earth Day, she stressed the urgent need for environmental protection amid growing ecological threats.
