After India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire, the Indian Air Force (IAF) announced on its official X handle that it had completed its assigned objectives in Operation Sindoor with precision and professionalism. However, it clarified that the operation is still ongoing and that a detailed briefing will follow soon.
The IAF emphasized that the missions were carried out deliberately and discreetly, in alignment with national goals. It also urged the public to avoid speculation and not spread unverified information.
Operation Sindoor was initiated by the Indian Armed Forces in response to the May 7 Pahalgam terror attack. The operation targeted nine sites deep within Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Following these strikes, tensions escalated, leading to heavy cross-border shelling and retaliatory measures.
In response to the rising conflict, areas along the border were placed on high alert, and blackouts were enforced during Pakistani attacks.
The ceasefire agreement was reached on May 10, following a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump on Truth Social, confirming the ceasefire between the two nations. Later, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both countries had spoken and agreed to halt all military activitiesโland, air, and seaโstarting at 5:00 PM IST.
Despite the agreement, ceasefire violations were reported on Saturday night in areas like Srinagar, Jammu city, Kathua, and Nagrota. Pakistani drones were intercepted by Indian air defense in Udhampur amid blackout conditions, and similar blackouts were enforced in Pathankot and Ferozepur in Punjab, as well as in Rajasthanโs Jaisalmer and Barmer.
