Srinagar, June 11: Minister for Health and Education, Sakina Itoo, stated on Wednesday that the government is actively observing the current weather conditions and will decide on an early summer vacation for schools if necessary.

While addressing the media, Itoo said the School Education Department is keeping a close watch on the temperature trends. โ€œIf the heatwave continues and we see the need for it, we will declare summer break early,โ€ she said.

On tourism, the minister highlighted that Kashmir remains one of Indiaโ€™s top travel destinations. โ€œWe welcome tourists. Increased footfall will boost local businesses and benefit the people here,โ€ she noted.

Regarding the recent incident of corporal punishment reported from a private school in Srinagar, Itoo confirmed the matter has reached the governmentโ€™s attention. โ€œI have directed the Director of School Education, Kashmir, to investigate the case thoroughly and establish the facts,โ€ she said.

Additionally, the minister informed that a committee has finalized its report on the reservation policy, which will soon be presented to the cabinet for discussion.
