Ganderbal, May 17: Government Degree College, Ganderbal, organized an engaging essay writing competition on the topic โThe Decline of Moral Values in Contemporary Society: Causes, Consequences, and Solutions.โ The event, jointly hosted by the departments of Urdu, Islamic Studies, English, and Functional English, aimed to improve studentsโ writing skills while highlighting the importance of moral values in todayโs world.
Held in the college conference hall, the competition attracted enthusiastic participation from students of all semesters. Faculty members and professors from various departments supported the event. The college principal, Prof. Fouzia Fatima, presided over the event, while a respected three-member jury panel assessed essays in both English and Urdu categories.
The competition concluded with an inspiring valedictory session led by Dr. Shazia Qadri, Assistant Professor of English, who also recognized the efforts of the organizing team. Dr. Zeeshan Khushboo, Head of Functional English, delivered the vote of thanks. The winners were Syeda Mohddisa (4th Semester) in first place, Momina Majid (6th Semester) in second, and Qurat-ul-Ain (6th Semester) in third. Consolation prizes were given to Seerat Riyaz (6th Semester), Mehvish (2nd Semester), and Nusrat Hassan (6th Semester) for their notable entries. The event ended with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to all prize winners, celebrating their accomplishments and intellectual contributions.
