Dehradun, May 8: Five people were killed and several others seriously injured after a helicopter crashed in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, confirmed Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey on Thursday.

The crash occurred near Ganganani in the border district of Uttarkashi, involving a helicopter carrying six passengers along with its pilot. Footage from the crash site showed the aircraft’s interior mangled by the impact.

Pandey said that as soon as authorities were alerted, rescue and relief teams were immediately dispatched to the location to carry out rescue operations and provide medical assistance to the injured.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and more details are awaited.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that SDRF and district administration teams had reached the crash site and relief efforts were underway. “I have directed officials to ensure all possible assistance for the injured and to thoroughly investigate the incident,” he said.
