Srinagar, May 30: โElders are like an ocean of experience, knowledge, and wisdom that younger generations should absorb to enrich their lives,โ said Mrs. Nighat Shafi Pandit, renowned philanthropist and chairperson of HELP (Human Effort for Love and Peace) Foundation. She made these remarks at a seminar titled โRole of Elderly People in Societyโ held at Ahata Waqar, Chanapora, where she was the chief guest.
During the event, an English book titled Correct Thinking, authored by H. M. Yasinโa respected consultant, resource person, and former Joint Director of Sericultureโwas also released.
Mrs. Pandit emphasized the urgent need to address the deep-rooted pain experienced by the people of Kashmir due to prolonged unrest and to develop a comprehensive strategy aimed at healing the troubled society.
The seminar was presided over by noted writer and convenor of the Kashmiri Advisory Committee of Sahitya Akademi, Prof. Shaad Ramzan, with former Director of Doordarshan Srinagar, Shabir Mujahid, as a member of the presidium.
In his presidential address, Prof. Ramzan highlighted the critical role elders play in preserving culture, stating that older generations keep cultural traditions alive and educate the youth about their heritage.
Poet and writer Mushtaq Mehram, in his review, said Correct Thinking emphasizes how building confidence is key to overcoming negativity. He noted that the book stresses the importance of aligning positive thoughts with actions to turn personal experiences into examples of success.
Senior authors Hakim Yasin and Amin Bhat also spoke at the event, sharing insights from the book with the audience. Dr. Laila anchored the seminar.
