SRINAGAR, APRIL 15 (KNS): The Agriculture Department of Kashmir on Monday organized a major Buyer-Seller Meet at the India International Kashmir Saffron Trading Centre (IIKSTC) in Dusoo, Pampore.

The event was inaugurated by Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi, MLA Pampore, who attended as the chief guest. In his address, Masoodi reaffirmed the governmentโ€™s dedication to enhancing the agriculture sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

He stated that the buyer-seller interaction would play a crucial role in strengthening local agriculture, fostering economic growth, and opening up access to both national and international markets. Masoodi emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to promote saffron cultivation in Pampore, which he said holds great potential in the sector.

He also highlighted the importance of boosting regional products and expanding market avenues to support the economic upliftment of Jammu and Kashmir. The event, he said, marks a significant move toward advancing the agriculture-based economy of the Pampore area.

Following the inaugural session, Masoodi toured the stalls set up by various sellers.

Earlier, Joint Director Agriculture Extension, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, provided an overview of the programโ€™s objectives and scope.

The event also featured interactive sessions between buyers and sellers. Key attendees included Director Agriculture Kashmir M. Ilyas Khateeb, General Manager JKTPO Er. Dawood Wani, Chief Agriculture Officer Pulwama M. Iqbal Khan, Information Officer, and representatives from APEADA and the Spice Board of India.

Buyers from several states also joined the meet virtually.
