Srinagar/Jammu, May 19: Government and private schools in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir reopened on Monday, ending a nearly two-week suspension of academic activities that began on May 7. The reopening follows instructions from the J&K School Education Department.

An official from the Jammu division confirmed that all recognized schools near the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) resumed classes on May 19. Teachers had been advised in advance to ensure readiness for the restart in these sensitive regions.

Similarly, in North Kashmir, schools near border areas resumed normal operations after the prolonged closure. Officials reported that attendance was strong and academic routines resumed smoothly.

Parents, teachers, and students expressed relief and satisfaction over the resumption of classes, emphasizing the importance of staying on track with the academic calendar. Morning assemblies and regular lessons were conducted as scheduled, and midday meal services have also resumed in government schools.

The reopening is being seen as a positive step towards restoring normalcy in affected areas and reflects the administrationโ€™s commitment to minimizing disruptions in studentsโ€™ education.
