On Sunday, the Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) and personnel across all ranks paid tribute to Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz, who was killed in cross-border firing by Pakistan in the R S Pura sector of Jammu.
In an official statement, the BSF said, โDG BSF and all ranks honour the ultimate sacrifice of Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz, who laid down his life in the line of duty on May 10 during cross-border firing by Pakistan along the International Boundary in RS Pura, Jammu. The Prahari Pariwar stands in solidarity with his grieving family during this difficult time.โ
The BSF also announced that a wreath-laying ceremony would be held with full honours on May 11 at Frontier Headquarters Jammu in Paloura.
Meanwhile, India condemned Pakistan for breaching the ceasefire understanding reached earlier on Saturday between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries. The Indian Army has since responded to the intrusions and cross-border violations.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, speaking at a special media briefing, said India views these violations very seriously. โThere have been multiple breaches of the agreement reached earlier today between the DGMOs. The Indian Armed Forces are responding appropriately and have been instructed to act firmly against any repeated violations along the International Border and Line of Control,โ he said.
India urged Pakistan to take immediate steps to uphold the agreement and address the violations with seriousness and responsibility.
Misri confirmed that Pakistanโs DGMO had contacted his Indian counterpart at 3:35 PM, and both agreed to cease all firing and military actions across land, air, and sea from 5:00 PM IST. The DGMOs are scheduled to speak again on May 12 at noon.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reaffirmed on X that India remains unwavering in its stand against terrorism.
