Srinagar, Apr 8: Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired two key meetings in Srinagar on Tuesday to assess the progress of development projects and the security landscape in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the final day of his three-day visit to the Union Territory, Shah led a development review meeting at Raj Bhawan. Present at the meeting were Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, senior officials from the Union Home Ministry, and the J&K administration.

Following this, Shah held a separate meeting focused on the regionโ€™s security scenario. This session, which lasted two-and-a-half hours, included top police, Army, and security force officials, though Chief Minister Abdullah was not part of this meeting.

Shah praised the security agencies for maintaining peace in the region and urged them to increase vigilance.

Upon arriving in the Valley on Monday evening, Shah visited the residence of Kirti Chakra awardee DySP Humayun Muzammil Bhat, who was killed during an anti-terror operation in Kokernag in September 2023. Shah met the late officerโ€™s father, retired IGP Ghulam Hassan Bhat, and spent about 20 minutes with the family.

The Home Minister also met leaders from BJP and its allies, including JD(U), during his visit. Security was significantly heightened across Kashmir during his stay, with heavy deployment of armed forces.
