Katra, June 09 โ€“ In a major step toward improving pilgrim safety, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today inaugurated an advanced CCTV Surveillance System and Integrated Command & Control Centre at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.

This state-of-the-art AI-enabled system is built to deliver real-time monitoring, better situational awareness, and efficient crowd control to ensure a secure and smooth pilgrimage experience for the millions of devotees visiting the shrine.

The centralized Command & Control Centre, backed by seven Sub-Control Centres along the route, enables round-the-clock surveillance of key and sensitive areas. The network includes over 700 camerasโ€”170 of which are newly installed high-definition IP unitsโ€”and integrates AI technologies such as Facial Recognition, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), and Gesture Recognition. These features will help authorities respond swiftly to emergencies, crowding, potential threats, and natural disasters.

Lieutenant Governor Sinha highlighted that this high-tech initiative will not only improve the operational efficiency of the shrine but also significantly enhance the safety and convenience of devotees, reaffirming the administrationโ€™s strong commitment to a secure pilgrimage.
