Srinagar, May 28 – National Conference (NC) Provincial President Showkat Mir has urged the administration to ensure robust preparations for the upcoming annual Mela Kheer Bhawani, set to be held at the revered Tulmulla shrine in Ganderbal and other associated sites across the Kashmir Valley.
In an official statement, Mir emphasized the festival’s deep religious and emotional significance for the Kashmiri Pandit community. He called on authorities to provide all necessary facilities for pilgrims, including transportation, security, sanitation, healthcare, and lodging.
Highlighting the importance of inter-departmental coordination, he urged concerned government bodies to work together to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration. Mir also stressed the need for timely restoration and upkeep of infrastructure around the shrine, uninterrupted power and water supply, as well as the establishment of medical camps and help desks.
Reaffirming the NC’s dedication to preserving Jammu and Kashmir’s pluralistic traditions, Mir appealed for joint efforts to make the Mela a celebration of unity and communal harmony.
