Srinagar, Apr 17: People’s Conference President Sajad Gani Lone launched a sharp attack on former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over his stance on the Waqf Amendment Act.

Taking to X, Lone accused Omar of hypocrisy, stating, โ€œThis is shamelessness hitting new lows. As the then leader of the J&K Assembly, he orchestrated chaos to prevent any resolution against the Waqf Bill from passing. And now he is welcoming and interpreting the Supreme Court verdict.โ€

He went on to criticize Abdullahโ€™s conduct during the Assembly sessions, alleging that he avoided the House during critical discussions. โ€œHe let National Conference legislators create disruption by shouting and jumping on desks, making it impossible for others to be heard. Meanwhile, he chose to skip the sessions and instead took a walk in the Tulip Gardens with the very person who introduced the anti-Muslim bill in Parliament,โ€ Lone said.
