Srinagar – Renowned Shia cleric and custodian of Astana Haji Syed Hassan in Nabdipora, Srinagar, Aga Syed Abdul Baqi Rizvi, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning at the age of 90.
A respected religious leader in Kashmir’s Shia community, Aga Syed Abdul Baqi was known for his piety, humility, and steadfast commitment to both religious and social causes. He provided spiritual guidance to the community, particularly during challenging times.
He is survived by four sons and a daughter and was the father-in-law of prominent Shia leader Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari.
According to family sources, funeral prayers will be held at 3:30 PM at Alamgari Bazar Chowk, after which he will be buried at his ancestral graveyard, Baba Mazar in Zadibal.
His death has created a significant void in Kashmir’s religious and social circles, prompting an outpouring of condolences from religious scholars, community leaders, and citizens across the Union Territory.
