Srinagar, Apr 5: The Jammu and Kashmir government has labeled a petition concerning reservations as “frivolous” and urged the High Court to dismiss it, as stated in an affidavit filed in the Zahoor Ahmed Bhat and Others vs UT of J&K case.

Notably, the affidavit does not mention the sub-committee that the government was reportedly said to have formed to examine reservation-related issues. This omission has sparked concerns about the administration’s commitment to its own decisions.

Reacting to this, senior political leader Sajad Lone remarked, “The government hasn’t referred to the reservation sub-committee anywhere. It’s a legal puzzle—suggesting that the government doesn’t take its own committee seriously enough to even acknowledge it in court.”
